The problem

Bombus already had an existing website which wasn't particularly user friendly and was built on top of a rather rigid content management system.

With designs already produced for the new site they needed to source a system which would be easy to use on a day to day basis whilst providing enough technical ability to scale in size along with their company's expanding product range whilst catering for the amount of customisations that customers needed to have control over when ordering.

Our solution

Using our tried and tested Paprika CMS with Ecommerce upgrade we were able to develop a semi-bespoke system that alllows the Bombus team to quickly manage their entire product range. Each product can be configured to offer a variety of custom selections by the customer at the time of purchase.

All transactions are processed using HSBC as the payment gateway with orders being managable in the admin area of the site. To assist in producing orders, we developed a printable PDF which is generated for each order that has removable address labels to ensure products are dispatched quickly and effortlessly.

About Bombus

Having studied textiles and weave at Central St Martins and a post-graduate study at the Royal College of Art followed by several years of working in the commercial textiles and furniture industry, Amelia Coward formed her own handmade gifts company - Bombus - in 2003.

Their initial offering was just one product and was inspired by a Valentines card Amelia made using a vintage map of Kent. Today their ever expanding product range still follows the same theme with each and every piece using actual vintage maps (never copies) so each one is completely authentic and entirely unique.
